Mary M. Martin

Mary joined the TGB Lake Monticello office as a real estate paralegal.  Originally from Alexandria, Virginia and a graduate of the University of Virginia, she comes to the firm with thirty years of managerial, paralegal, and administrative experience in real estate settlements, patent and trademark prosecution, personal injury, domestic, and criminal litigation. 

Her passion lies in real estate settlements particularly assisting first-time home buyers through the exciting process of owning their firm home.

In her spare time, Mary contributes posts to Madame Deals blog and enjoys the company of her husband, three children, granddaughter, and two cats.

Susan Gibbons

Susan stated with Tucker Griffin Barnes in 2012 as a Real Estate Legal Assistant at our Lake Monticello Office.  She handles the front office and many real estate related issues.

Susan moved to the Charlottesville area in 2004 after growing up in South Jersey. She has worked in real estate since 2005 and has recently purchased her first home. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and reading.

Sarah Wayland

Sarah Wayland is originally from Oswego, NY, but from a young age, grew up in Orange County, Virginia. She is a 2002 graduate from Longwood University with a Bachelors of Science in Political Science and minors in history and social work. Shortly after graduation, she joined the Charlottesville real estate community learning the real estate settlement process and obtaining her title underwriters license.  

Sarah joined the Real Estate Department of Tucker Griffin Barnes in 2009 where she works directly with Bill Tucker and the real estate department in pre-closing.  Sarah enjoys the fast-paced and ever changing world of real estate, whether it is drafting documents, reviewing contracts or working closely with the real estate agents and clients in the beginning stages of their real estate transaction.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys Redskins football, spending  time with her family and friends, shopping, cooking and enjoying Charlottesville with her yellow Lab, Daisy.

Valerie Johnson

Valerie joined TGB in August 2010. She is originally from Atlanta, GA.  She has been in the real estate field since 2001 and has handled traditional and REO closings. She works in our short sale department. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family and cooking.

Mary Pat Fogarty

Mary Pat Fogarty is a paralegal to Attorney Laura Blair Butler in the Family Law/Domestic Relations area of practice.   She started working for the firm in December 2007.   Prior to moving to Virginia, she worked as a legal assistant for a Law Project which provided civil legal services to victims of domestic violence and disadvantaged families in Rensselaer County, New York.    

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Mary Pat is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan for life!

Amy Sobeck

Amy, at Tucker Griffin Barnes since 2007, quickly turned into a Jack-Of-All-Trades by assisting with criminal trials, as well as front desk and office management. She has acted as paralegal for associates and partners in civil, criminal, personal injury, real estate, and business law.  Currently she manages the registered agent practice, and assists Mr. Tucker with real estate contracts and complicated deeds.  She loves examining old plats and property descriptions to help people solve their real estate issues.

Sound nerdy?  She is, but don’t tease her too much because she also practices martial arts, kung fu, including sparring (since 2006).  Being fluent in German and with a license to teach, her background is in foreign languages and education.  In desperate situations she can also communicate in Spanish and French.  She spends any extra time cooking whole foods and vegetables to feed to her adorable baby and husband.

Christina Burkard

Christina Burkard, our Office Manager, has been with the firm for over 17 years. She started as our receptionist in April 1996. In August 1997, she was promoted to assistant manager and then on to Office Manager is July 2003. Currently, she is in charge of running our day to day business operations (and keeping Mike Griffin, the firm’s Business Manager out of trouble).

Christina grew up locally and married a New Englander. She is an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She has volunteered in the community serving on her son’s baseball board as treasurer and most recently being “team mom” for her son’s lacrosse team. This past Christmas, Christina became known as the “Bike Lady” for her work in collecting 33 bikes for the Toy Lift on behalf of Tucker Griffin Barnes.

In her spare time, Christina enjoys watching her son’s lacrosse team, traveling with her husband (she’s been to Starbucks in 6 countries) and playing poker.
